What does it mean to be a full spectrum doula?
Full spectrum doulas believe that their work is not just in childbirth, but that it covers the entire spectrum of pregnancy experience and outcomes. This can include miscarriage, planned abortion or medical termination, stillbirth, surrogacy or adoption. As a full spectrum doula I acknowledge that those who have had past traumatic experiences regarding pregnancy and childbirth, or in life in general, might have a different experience of pregnancy than many might expect. I provide support for any situation, unexpected or otherwise. Every person deserves support, dignity, and respect - and for their experience to be witnessed and honored. Although I do attend births, this part of my work is just as important to me. I don't see this as radical work as it sometimes gets described. I see it as human and necessary. As such, I do my best to provide these services by donation or free of charge, depending on the situation and level of involvement.
Please reach out if you are looking for support - I am always happy to help.
